We rescued our dog Lucky from a local animal shelter 6 years ago. Lucky is part Border Collie and he is super smart. When we went to the shelter all the other dogs were barking and jumping around but Lucky (then known as Squeak) just sat in his cage looking sad. We took him home that same day. I’m not sure who the lucky one is him or us, but he brings so much joy to our lives.
We want him to live a long and happy life with us and of course we spoil him. Lucky has developed this habit of not eating his dinner until he sees what we are having. We try not to give him table scraps and want him to enjoy his food. We tried putting a scoop of canned dog food on top of his food, but then we’re left with “cold clump” for the next day. That is why we are excited to try the new Alpo Meal Helpers from Dollar General. They are 4oz bags of soft dog food nuggets that are meant to be mixed in with dry dog food. They come in two flavors; roast beef & chicken and porterhouse & prime rib. Lucky chose the roast beef & chicken flavor to try.
As you can see, Lucky gobbled up his food with the Alpo Meal Helper mixed in. He was trying to pick out his dry food, but that didn’t work. He cleaned his bowl, which he rarely does! Lucky gives the new Alpo Meal Helpers from Dollar General his highest rating, 4 Paws!
