World Wisdom: EcoBeachie

EcoBeachie™ is truly saving our planet one product at a time. As of 2022, it was reported that there was approximately 269,000 tons of plastic in our oceans which is equivalent to 1,345 blue whales. This figure is shocking and disturbing to say the very least. Originally from small-town, Canton, Illinois, but now living along the shores of Lake Michigan in Chicago's Rogers Park neighborhood, EcoBeachie™  Founder Jennifer Schlangen has witnessed first-hand the devastation that can be caused to wildlife due to single-use plastics. Specifically, she witnessed from her very own backyard, a sand hill crane with a plastic cup (think cough syrup cup) stuck on its beak, preventing it from being able to eat. For Jennifer Schlangen,  it was an awful and extremely sad sight to watch. She  additionally witnessed sightings of a raccoon with a six-pack plastic holder stuck around its body...again, a devastating sight. This is when Jennifer Schlangen decided to take action and EcoBeachie™ was born.

“My ultimate goal is to clean up our oceans/waterways of plastic waste one product at a time,” said Jennifer Schlangen, Founder and CEO, EcoBeachie™ Enterprises, LLC. “I am funding this project with my 401(K) and unfortunately, I was gouged thousands of dollars and months of time from my first manufacturer, just prior to placing my first bulk order. But, due to the overwhelming interest and response I received; I decided to press forward. Please help me spread the word!”

EcoBeachie™ products easily can be described as innovate, fun, and affordable. While the frisbees are currently for sale at www.EcoBeachie.com, the Kickstarter campaign features the first ever and only beach sled and if you have every dragged an expensive wagon on the beach, this purchase is without question a no brainer. All EcoBeachie™ products contain upcycled ocean plastic and other post-consumer grade plastic waste and the Kickstarter campaign launches this Valentine’s Day. Show our oceans some love this Valentine’s Day; Love your Sweetie- Love Your Planet. And, simply spread the word as to how all of us can help clean up our planet one product at a time.

love my frisbee, my kids and dogs do too,” said Binty Parsons, EcoBeachie™ customer. “As I parent, I cannot wait to try the beach sled. The wagons are a pain, for lack of a better word, expensive and if you have ever hauled a bunch of your kids’ things on a beach, you know exactly what I am talking about. Most importantly, I am passionate about saving our ocean life, so this is a great way to give back!”
