Consider donating school supplies to womens' shelters, local schools, children's hospitals, libraries, churches. At this time of year, I can find crayons, glue, construction paper and other craft items at very cheap prices and great for their Christmas stockings. I am sure they would appreciate your generosity.

If I don’t wear something within a season, I donate it–unless it is an occasional use type of piece like the dressy shoes above. And there’s no excuse if it’s raining, many malls have measured walking loops and welcome walkers.

It is also usually free or a small donation and open to the community as most churches welcome non-members. Look for local fairs and festivals for low cost games, food and activities. Eventually, when I was married and working at a library I ordered my own copy of the Complete Tightwad Gazette–and I still have it!
