Shoes are expensive. If you can make your shoes last longer, you can tuck away the savings in that rainy day fund. Growing up in the 1950′s, people judged you by the state of your shoes. If your shoes were dirty, scuffed and dull with run down heels, they thought twice about offering you that job. Waterproof.

Buying used clothes can be a great way to save money, especially if you have rapidly growing children. Before You Go Donate Items Before you go shopping, you will want to grab anything that you want to donate and take it with you. They will generally have the best selections. Do you shop at thrift stores for clothing?

Get some shoe polish and shine up those old shoes, take them to a shoe repair shop to have the re-heeled or soled if they are worn down. This used to be a common occurrence with a shoe repair shop on every main street. Donate good clothing you really can’t use to a non-profit and bank the tax deduction.

And my absolute #1 way to save money at the grocery store is to PLAN OUR MEALS. Restaurants can be a huge drain on any budget, but there are ways to enjoy a meal out without spending a lot of money. We are now more committed to save money and we eat mostly at home, BUT we do enjoy at a few meals out each month.

To set up a swap, gather a group of friends and have them bring anything they want out of their closet-dresses, t-shirts, shoes, accessories, whatever.
