Donate items : Since my son is an only child, his clothing doesn’t get a lot of heavy use. Don’t limit yourself to the thrift stores, either.

Since my blog is set up as a business, I could deduct the expense – or at least depreciate the asset over time – reducing my taxes. So, hey, I guess I can take the tax reduction next year as well as this! Stores also stock up on gift sets with cosmetics for the holidays and may need to move it fast in January. Other tips.

If you keep your head and are persistent, you can find many things you want or need, all in near perfect condition, for a fraction of the cost with NO TAXES due. If you are in more of a hurry, find a thrift store instead. Garage sales and thrift stores are great places to find books and DVDs. Books and DVDs.

Check out some thrift stores, vintage stores, flea markets, and garage sales. If you can’t sell something, consider donating it and at least getting the tax write off. Just be sure to keep your receipts so that you can get the tax credit for the donation. But there is good news.

Fashion changes and new or nearly new clothing gets sold at sales or donated to charity. Another benefit is that I am cutting the governments out of the loop – there no sales taxes on used stuff (except big things of course, like boats or cars).
