Easter 50% off clearance starts today + Tips for shopping the sales

Easter clearance starts today with most stores marking inventory 50 percent off immediately.

Dollar General will drag it out, only marking items 25 percent off the first week after the holiday.  This could vary by location.

Typical markdown schedule tips:

Drugstores and most big box stores:

First week after the holiday basically today through Sunday or next Monday - items will be 50 percent off.

Second week after the holiday  -- 75 percent off.

Third week after the holiday until supplies are gone -- 90% off.

Easter products like dying kits and eggs can be used in educational toys and crafts throughout the year. Snag baby's first Easter products, gift basket wrap is awesome for quick wrap situations, grab some rolls or big bags.

BARGAIN MOM TIP -- IF YOU WILL HAVE A STUDENT ENTERING KINDERGARTEN IN THE FALL MAKE SURE YOU THINK AHEAD.

1. Treat bags are usually sent at Christmas and Valentines, look for treat bag toys and stickers

2.  Birthday parties - Think in terms of prizes, treat bags, plates and napkins.

3.  Next year your child will celebrate 100 DAYS OF SCHOOL events.  The teachers require the kids to bring in 100 small items to count. Look for something cute and cheap.

4.  School supplies - Pencil packs. These are great for pencil boxes, hopefully you'll get them super cheap.

5.  Teacher gifts are appropriate on Christmas, Valentine's, the first day of school and teacher appreciation week.  {even the last day of school}

6.  Your teacher will also ask you to provide treats for the TREASURE BOX-- this is a great opportunity to capitalize on cheap toys
