I’m always looking for cooking hacks, anything that makes my life in the kitchen easier, simpler is much appreciated. Hacks to me are a non-obvious fix, something when I read them makes me have an “aha moment” like why didn’t I think of that? Here are some cooking hacks that I wish I knew earlier that will save you time and money in your kitchen.
Keeping Cookies Soft Longer
Cookies tend to get hard as soon as the moisture in them evaporates, and they go from chewy to brittle and hard, making them difficult to bite into, and not enjoyable for soft chewy cookie lovers like me. This is my favorite hack for soft chewy cookies, just add ¼ slice of white bread per dozen cookies into the bottom of the container. Close the container and keep it closed for at least 24 hours.
How to Soften Butter
So all of us who bake know that softened butter and melted butter are not the same, so if you have forgotten to remove the butter from the refrigerator in time for baking. Here is a quick tip to help you out. Just slice the butter into cubes or alternatively dip the butter knife into a hot glass of water and slice.
Crispy Golden Air Fryer Food
Air Fryers do not brown food, so if you miss the golden brown color in your fried foods, here is how you can get crispy golden fried food. To get a nice golden color and crispy texture on your favorite fried food, use a light spray of cooking oil.
Tired of Stirring Peanut Butter
Don’t you just hate to see the pool of oil on top of the peanut butter? This process of oils and solids separating, known as syneresis, is completely safe. But it’s just really irritating. So, if you have peanut butter that splits and you don’t want to stir your peanut every time you want to eat some, simply turn the jar over and when you want to make your favorite PBJ simply turn it right-side up.
