Today is National Donut Day. The first Friday in June marks the sweet celebration every year. There are a number of donut dealers participating in the celebration by offering customers a free donut or doughnut, however you spell it. Some do require a minimum purchase while others are offering the freebie without strings. I recommend calling your local donut distributor to confirm participation.
National Donut Day actually started in 1917, when women Salvation Army volunteers known as “Lassies” made donuts for soldiers on the front lines of World War I, according to a release from Lamar's. You can read more about it,
