8 Weekday Habits For Relaxing Weekends
Are you spending weekends playing catchup with your workweek to-do list? Incorporate the below tasks into your weekday schedule so that you can have more time for your weekends.
Have a 20-minute daily cleaning routine – This should be over and above the daily cleaning tasks. This could be your Clean Appliance Day or Clean Glass Day. What I have realized is that there is actually less effort needed to keep up the level of cleaning if you clean on a day-to-day basis.
Have a small bin – Keep a basket in the living room to put away all the small things you come across in different rooms during the course of the day and before you call it a day, do put these things back in their place.
Have a routine for Laundry – I always do my laundry on Friday morning so that I can have my laundry folded by Friday evening and not have to worry about it for the rest of the week.
Buying Groceries – If you have perfected your grocery run by sticking to your grocery list while buying groceries, then you have scored a major time saver.
Plan easy meals for the weekend – It never cease to amaze me how much work is involved in cooking every night. I used to feel terrible if we were having just salads for dinner that I used to end up making a dessert and a soup and then end up exhausted at dinner. Now, I have learned how to make healthy balanced meals for the week and get some meals in the freezer for the weekend. You can get some meal ideas here:
Clean After The Weekend – Our home inevitably gets dirty during the weekends, so I have realized that the smart way was to make sure I get most of the cleaning tasks done on Monday with few cleaning tasks for the bathroom and kitchen during the rest of the week.
Don’t Go For Perfection – If there is one thing I have learned in all these years of cleaning it is that things always get messy at home and that there is a difference between perfect and good cleaning. Now, I try not to let a little dust stop me from enjoying my weekend.
Buy Groceries During The Week – If your supermarket is crowded during the weekend, then try shopping early on a weekday morning if possible or on a Tuesday or Wednesday night.
Your weekends are your time for fun and relaxation. Don’t let your housework determine how you spend your weekends. It is time to reclaim your weekends.
