Frugal Education: Create an outdoor classroom with repurposed aquarium

outdoor aquarium.jpgChristie Dedman/News Staff - Educational outdoor classroom - reusing an old aquarium.

My kids love nature and are constantly collecting things they find on their walks through the woods, around the yard and even places we visit.

(Don't worry we don't take things from national parks etc.)

To help them learn more about their environment and keep up with some of the things that are particularly interesting - I repurposed an old aquarium.

We have an outdoor area that's covered and they normally keep their toys etc there.

So i used an old table (one made from reclaimed wood, I might add) and put the old aquarium with a new purpose on top.

Now they can add acorns, plants, unually leaves, snail shells, rocks etc.

However before they can drop it in, they must tell me what it is, where it came from, etc.

So have you created a frugal learning environment from unexpected items for your children?
