XTERRA Southeast Championship

XTERRA comes to Pelham Alabama once again. The XTERRA Oak Mountain Trail Runs are healthy and fun ways enjoy the great nature trails inside Oak Mountain State Park. Navigate through weaving dirt pathways, leap over roots, and skate down pine-studded ridges through the lush green forest. In an effort to save the species, expert Dr. Col Limpus is studying what happens to hatchlings after their birth on Australia's beaches. For ages, the lives of loggerheads were mostly secret - we had no idea how they spent the years between when they hatched and adulthood; no idea how old a female was before she came ashore to breed.

The Dixie 200 Relay

The Dixie200 Relay is a unique, overnight relay adventure in which teams of 4-12 friends run 200 scenic miles on the western end of Georgia into central Alabama. Over 80 miles of the route will be on one of the largest continuous Rails toTrails projects in the nation. The relay begins on the Silver Comet Trail just west of Atlanta, GA and will cross into Alabama where the fun continues on the Chief Ladiga Trail. From there, runners will exit the trail system and take county roads to Oak Mountain State Park just outside of Birmingham, AL.

The Dixie200 Relay will be held on May 18-19, 2012. Beginning in Cobb County, GA on the Silver Comet Trail, the first flight of teams will start the 200-mile relay around 6:30 am on Friday, May 18. Over the next several hours, additional sets of teams will depart on their overnight journey to Birmingham. Teams will begin arriving in Oak Mountain State Park around noon on Saturday, May 19th to conclude their Dixie200 Relay experience.
