Learn all about owls. We will have our resident screech owl out for pictures! Free

Friday, Sept. 13, 6 pm-- A hoot in the night, Huntsville Botanical Garden

Come for a live animal presentation with a variety of owls. Fee.

Saturday, Sept. 14, 9am-- Flutter and Flight Fest, Ruffner Mountain, Birmingham

Flutter and Flight Fest, FREE Experience the wonder of wings! Butterflies, dragonflies, damselflies, and birds abound! Crafts, games, and educational activities!

Saturday, Sept. 14, 9 am--Fall vegetable gardening, Mobile Botanical Gardens

Learn how and when to plant for high harvest and low maintenance. We’ll go over the planting calendar, provide recommendations, and talk about where to find plants and seeds. Fee.

Saturday, Sept. 15, 9 am--Canoe/Kayak, Tallapoosa River, Heflin

The section we will paddle is relatively easy with no classified rapids. This is a scenic stretch of river located in a very rural area.

Saturday, Sept. 14, 4 pm--Space Safaris with Larry the Cat, JSU Planetarium, Jacksonville

Travel through space and explore planet Earth during these exciting programs for families and children. Fee.

Saturday, Sept. 14, 8 pm-- Stars, Planets, Moons, Desoto State Park

Learn more about the stars, the plants and their moons with Jacksonville State University’s Astronomer Dr. Laura Weinkauf. Free

Sunday, Sept. 15, 2pm-- Guided Hike Red Mountain Park, Birmingham

The hikes are free and family-friendly, and dogs are welcome on a leash. Come and see the new park!

Sunday, Sept. 15, 10 am, Rappelling at Desoto State Park

Learn the basics of rappelling from knot tying to climbing. Fee.

Monday, Sept.16, 10 am –Discovering Butterflies, Huntsville Botanical Garden

Tuesday, Sept. 17, 10 am, 5 Rivers Storytime, 5 Rivers Delta Center

Children under the age of 6 are welcome to stop by for a free reading of a nature based story followed by arts and crafts. Free.

Parents and kids join us for a hike and some discovery time. Great way for children to enjoy the outdoors while learning more about the natural world.
