Umm hello, I wish we had a Wags and I wish I understood how it works. I read somewhere that someone said you had to have a an advanced degree in finance to roll RR. He he, I do and still don’t get it. Maybe I am to Rite Aid-inized. Even so, these are great deals for those of you who “get” Wags.

I got 2 free Carmex Moisture Plus lip balms today! They were on sale for 1.99, then with my printable $1 off Carmex coupons, and $1 off coupons from the Walgreen’s new coupon book, I actually made 2 pennies! I just got 2 coupon books. And it is the Children’s Oscillococcinum that’s triggering the Breathe Right, I paid for the Osco all by itself to roll my RR, and that’s where I got the Breathe Right coupon.

@Jessica Rigsby, I also got a deal on the John Frieda stuff-spend $15 get $5 RR. I got a shampoo and conditioner ($6.99 each) and i found the Root Awakening Smoothing Lotion on clearance for $1.79. I had 3 $1 off coupons, so it came out pretty good!

We don’t have Rite Aid in Missouri and I must say, I am fairly impressed with Walgreens here. You just have to remember to use the RRs, but the best thing to do is this: Use your RR s for items that are on sale, but only on those items that have not been advertised as ones that generate RRs. For example, I am going to use my $9 that I got from that children’s medicine (I don’t remember the name of it…begins with O) on toilet paper and milk this week. Neither of them generate RRs and I know for sure I will be able to use my RRs on them and won’t end up losing my RRs.

Ok, something weird happened when I went to Wags today. I got the Resveratol Max Dots and the $10 coupon out of the January book but when I checked out she rang it up twice by mistake and I didn’t realize till I got home. It showed I bought 2 and it took $19.98 off my total showing I had two coupons which I didn’t. I wish I had picked up two instead of the one but at least I got the extra $10 off! I’m really suprised the computer allowed it.

Well, since so many of you like RA with it’s UPS, maybe you can explain the rolling system to me. I haven’t used RA very much – mostly because there are TWO Walgreen’s within walking distance of my home. I do ok there, but this last sale with the Special K is getting me to go check it out.
Could someone outline the basic differences between RA UPS and Walgreens RR?
I thought they were basically th same.

DITTO all the WAGS comments! I have been phasing them out in favor of Rite Aid, but I did go today and as soon as I tried to use one of my coupons I heard the dreaded BEEP. The nice cashier pushed the coupon through, but had to call the grumpy manager up when my RR didn’t print. It got resolved, but I had to wait too long and deal with a very unprofessional manager. I really appreciate all your help in making me a Rite Aid convert!
Brianna says
This didn’t work in Portland, no RR advertised in the ad or marked on the shelf. Bummer! First time in months I’ve been motivated to go to Wags and it was a bust! $1.24 still isn’t bad for Finish dish detergent so I won’t bother with returning it. Check your ad before getting excited!
Brenda says
@Brianna, I hate living in this test market area! It’s hard to figure out which RR deals we get and which just give us stupid bonus points. I agree there is little motivation to go to Wags these days, Rite Aid is so much better!!! Are you signed up to get the sneak preview of our ad on Fridays? At least with that you can plan a few days in advance if there is actually anything worth going in for the following week.

I gave up shopping at Wags because I found it really hard to roll the RRs and I even had a couple expire because I couldn’t get to the store. They just don’t have good deals often enough for me. I am tempted to go there sometimes, but I know it isn’t worth it in the long run. Plus, the store in my area has terrible customer service; the manager gave me a hard time about using coupons and acted like it was a big imposition for him to take them. That was when I stopped shopping there. OTOH, I L-O-V-E Rite Aid! I do nearly all my drug store shopping there. Great deals, and the local stores seem to have great managers and staff. Can’t beat that!

I could not find the reservatol today, I looked all over and could not even find an empty spot for it, looked in all different ways, where is it by? (asked the cashier but she didnt know)
Shannon says
The other thing that is a pain is that the RR expire in 2 weeks, so you hit a couple of bad weeks, and you have to “waste” your RR. I might still do the Electrasol deal and spend the RR on Claritin that I really need now, at least then the medicine won’t be as “expensive”. I have pretty much given up since I don’t need diapers anymore, unless they have a MM, or something free that I could really use. But I have to say that I still am confused about some of the Rite Aid stuff.

My WG has the cheapest milk in town, and we drink a ton of it. I use RRs all the time to pay for milk.
sherrie says
@Amy,
I’m wondering if that varies by state? I’m almost positive that we cant use UPs in Pennsylvania to pay for milk, I’m wondering if we can use RRs? That is actually a great idea for rolling since you need milk anyway. I’d actually like some more electrasol, but since I’ve stopped Wagging, that would be one of the few things to roll into.
Shannon says
Sherrie, I think its a law in PA that doesnt allow us to use UPR on milk.. might be the same at Wags.

Walgreens is the bain of my existence! Ok maybe not quite that bad, this morning went very well when I went in to get some of the dish detergent. I understand the system very thoroughly, and I still mess things up all the time! I am sure the managers hate me! They most certainly all know who I am. But alas, there is no Rite Aid within 100 miles, so that one is out. Seems confusing to me since I don’t shop there, but with all the deals I see posted boy do I WISH we had a Rite Aid. Shannonn, you’re not missing much with no Walgreens, it is my least favorite place to shop in the world! But for whatever reason I just keep going back :(
Florence says
Um, you’re not the only one who does not get Wags. That’s bad coming from a former Wags management employee (though in my defense, they did not have RRs then). None of my education and background in finance help either so I just give up on it. Besides, the Wags store here has some very unhappy employees. I prefer my coupon friendly Rite Aid and CVS, :)
megan says
I was checking the comments to see how Wags limits their RR items. I am goin got go do the electrosol deal but I didn’t want to get up there, buy 5, nd thenhave to return4 bc only one RR printed. Now I know. I also didn’t know that you can roll your +UPs at RA. I’ve always been afraid to do it bc I hat ereturning stuff and being a pain. :/ Good to know! Thanks ladies!
Brenda says
@megan, If you plan on buying 5 identical items make sure to do 5 seperate transactions to get a RR for each item.
Oanh says
Using coupons at Walgreens is a real pain and I have to get other items as fillers in order to use a certain amount of coupons. I don’t shop at Walgreens that much compare to RA and CVS. Also there’s a coupon for free Afrin 12 hour nasal spray up to $7 printed out at Wag from my transaction yesterday.
Jenna says
I am SO with you guys! Good to hear I’m not alone. I used to do all 3, but since RA had the $5/$25 I liked shopping there more, even though all CVS seem to be super coupon friendly. But Wags, with their RR needing a coupon free item made me hating to shop there. Since I had a coupon for each item I wanted to buy. I still have packs of Jello I bought as a filler and I hated needing a filler as it then “cuts” into my RR since I wouldn’t have bought it normally, but had to to use the RR. And that you couldn’t roll them?? SO frustrating. If UPR didn’t roll, it’d be a mess!! I pass up good deals there all the time, it’s just too much of a hassle and with a toddler, I don’t have the time to deal with it! So thanks ladies for making me feel better about passing on deals at Wags. I LOVE RA anyway, they always pay me to shop there!! :)
CJ says
I try not to stress about rolling my RRs and getting fillers, and just use them for things I dont have coupons for – toilet paper, bread, chips, soda. I dont have a Rite Aid so their system seems confusing for me!
Evelyn says
It has to be a really good deal for me to shop at Wags. The Finish detergent is a great one so I did stop by and get some as I like it better than Cascade. Otherwise, I’ll hold out for Rite-Aid. They are wonderful with coupons although I do miss the $5/25 one. :( Wags’ policy of the same # of coupons as items can be a pain too. I love how you can stack as many ups and others on one item so you can get as close to free as possible. Rite Aid rules!! :)
sarah spends less says
I consider myself to be pretty intelligent also, but the Register Rewards really throw me too. Rite Aid is so much easier. I think you can end up spending more out of pocket at Walgreens since you have to get filler items– I hate having to add something I don’t really plan to buy just to use the RR (since everything I want to buy usually has a coupon). However, I do have lots of Walgreens near me and did take advantage of the Electrasol Finish deal today- I bought 5 of them- I had to do 5 transactions.. and now I have 5- $1.50 off RRs to use.
sherrie says
Dont feel bad, Shannon. Wags is a pain. I used to do CVS and Wags until I started RA. Then I was doing all three and it was insane so I just decided to drop Wags. Even though you can roll, it is just too much trouble to not be able to roll the same brand into itself and you end up spending the most oop. Can you imagine having to keep track of the UPs at RA- not being able to use the UPs you got from the school supplies on more school supplies, or batteries on more batteries? It is definitely NOT a user friendly system. I know many people dont have RA or CVS so thats why they WAGS, but kudos to them, because it is a sigh of relief that I dont feel obligated to shop their anymore! :)
Shannon says
@sherrie,
I cannot imagine, because I barely keep track up my UPR. I am still missing the SCRs :(
