There was recently some discussion on whether or not you can use gas cans to meet your 25 Gallon minimum at Martin’s. Caroline reached out to Martin’s and received this reply. Thanks for sharing Caroline.
If you are shopping at Giant, you can read the gas cans policy here.
You are allowed up to 25 gallons while redeeming gas rewards points in a single transaction. You most certainly can and are advised to use gas cans to capture the additional gallons that don’t typically fit into the single vehicle,,, as it is against safety regulation to fill up TWO vehicles at once.
All being said you were doing the right thing and I again apologize for the inconvenience we have caused you. I will begin retraining the entire gas dept today and certainly hope to not cause you any further issues.
If you have any future concerns or question please feel free to reach out to me personally or contact any of my management team as we are here for you 24/7 for any and all of your grocery and GAS needs.
Thank you and hope to see you soon,
— Sincerely,
Charles
Manager

I use gas cans at Sheetz when I use my Weis gas points. I’m not sure why using gas cans is an issue at a gas station. How else could you get gas for a mower or ATV without loading it up on a trailer and taking it to the station?
Ruth says
I have always used extra cans to capture the whole 30 gallons. Once an overzealous attendant tried to stop me from doing and I showed him a similar letter that had been posted online in response to this very question. I also asked him to call customer service and double checked. He told me that he would let me do it this time. I told him he wasn’t doing me any favors and he needed to get clarification so he wouldn’t upset customers. He never bothered me or anyone else again. He told me that the instructions came from the store manager so I told him to keep the letter and show the store manager.
