Show them the big truck that pulls up with hamburger buns, frozen fries and etc and talk about where the food comes from. Buying gasoline. Watching TV. While you are planning meals.

It never occurred to me to ask Mom or Mom-in-law to come watch my kids. Seeing the joy of discovery on a child’s face or watching them learn a new skill or develop a new talent is just plain fun, no matter the cost in money or time. Expectations of our children. We raised our children to expect more involvement.

Food/shopping. Fast food was rare. Most food at the grocery store came from the USA. The only discount store was the 5 and dime aka ‘the dime store’ It did not sell food (except 1 penny candies). Gasoline stations did not serve food, have coffee or provide bath rooms. Most people were thin.

They never check to watch for problems and soon there are little sacs hanging from the bushes. If they manage to strip all the leaves off the tree they stared with, the larvae drop off the tree and crawl to another to get food. Once you have collected all the worms you can see, pour some gasoline over them and light a fire.
