When finances are tight, often the only area we can control is our food spending. By having a schedule and knowing what we usually eat, I can save money by buying many foods in bulk. Just be sure that your family will consume all of the food you purchase in bulk. My suggestions are just a start. The sky’s the limit.

Look for local fairs and festivals for low cost games, food and activities. They’ve also sold bottled water, homemade cookies, and crafts. We live near a huge amusement park that is a bit pricey, but after 5pm the price reduces considerably. And it is much cooler than at mid-day. Local fairs and festivals.

Limiting waste is what really drives most of the habits I have that would qualify as “frugal” – reducing/eliminating food waste, returning unneeded items, pursuing refunds, checking on warranties, repairing things, etc. For me, being in the kitchen and making food for people is an act of love.
