Reader Rachael came up with a sweet cereal deal at Giant. She put a little spin on it by taking advantage of the Buy 6 Save $.20/gallon on gas deal.
2 Honey Nut Cheerios – 3/$10
2 Cinnamon Toast Crunch – 3/$10
2 Betty Crocker Cookie Mixes – $2.00 each
use $1/2 Cheerios: Original, Honey Nut, Frosted or Fruity printable
use 2 $0.55/1 Cinnamon Toast Crunch Cereal printable (one $.45 doubled)
use 2 $0.40/1 Betty Crocker Cookie Mix, exp. 1-29-11 (GM 12/05/10) (one $.40 doubled)
Watch for boxes that have codes for free movie tickets on them. 2 codes = 1 free movie ticket.
Pay $13.58 for cereal & cookies
Get 2 free movie tickets
Get 200 bonus gas points
Thanks, Rachael

I tried this deal today and they didn’t have any of the cinnamon toast crunch movie boxes, so we just got 4 boxes of honey nut cheerios, used coupons and it worked great. We also bought some of the new Kelloggs Honey Nut Crunch (may be wrong name) and it said “try me free” which included a rebate good until 2012. Somehow during this deal I also got a catalina for a free gallon of milk “compliments of general mills”.
I had done the juicy juice deal first so I saved $7.00 and got the gas points, and movie codes!!

@Miranda,
woohoo!

I actually had 2 .55/1 Honey Nut Cheerios printables too, which makes the deal just a little sweeter, since one will double, but… I can’t remember where I found those…
@ Jaime – yeah, I noticed that too… my family was actually on food stamps for a while after my husband lost his job, and they used to use $$’s paid by food stamps toward your gas points, but I think they stopped that too. I’m not 100% sure of their policies, but I know that they have definitely changed some things re points/coupons in the last few months!
Jaime says
@Rachael, Believe it or not, I was going to bring that point up…it shouldn’t matter if you are using food stamps, coupons, gift certificates, or whatever. Payment is payment. Close to where I live I know a lot of families use food stamps, and I was wondering if they were getting the points or not. I think I’m going to send them an e-mail (and wonder if they will respond).
Jaime says
@Rachael, OK, I just e-mailed them; according to the site, it may take up to 7 days to reply back to me “SIGH”. Maybe I’ll get lucky; I’ll reply back if I hear anything earth-shattering. But I did give them a piece of my mind.

A question somewhat related to this….has anyone who shops at Giant notice that if you use coupons, you will not get points for gas? This didn’t used to be an issue in the past, but I’ve noticed that I’ve been shortchanged for weeks now. My big one was when I had about $60 worth of stuff, and after coupons I was at $25, but I only got 25 points. I think this stinks, since coupons are a form of payment, I should be getting credit for it. Any thoughts?
