Food/shopping. Fast food was rare. Most food at the grocery store came from the USA. The only discount store was the 5 and dime aka ‘the dime store’ It did not sell food (except 1 penny candies). Gasoline stations did not serve food, have coffee or provide bath rooms. People cooked and ate at home.
