It has great fuel economy, at about 40 MPG. Since it costs about $20/day in gas for my partner to take the truck, and my car has at least double the fuel economy, when we carpool, he drives the car. It has over 250,000 KM on it, and is almost 20 years old. We save $30/week, or $120/month on his end by carpooling.

Why carry around all that extra weight, which not only costs you more in fuel but also more wear on your engine. Fuel-injected cars do not, contrary to popular mythology, use more gas starting up each time than they would just idling Combine errands. Buy fuel-efficient tires. Shut the car off. Remove the roof rack.
