We’ve been in the house for about a year, and now have a well furnished home. We furnished our house almost for free by using a few methods: Repurpose Old Pieces . You can have a custom piece for the cost of some sandpaper, new hardware and paint that you wouldn’t be able to find at stores. When we first moved into our new home, it was pretty empty.

If you are in more of a hurry, find a thrift store instead. But, find one in a high end neighborhood, one where the store sorts through the donations to select only the best. Expect to pay a bit more in a thrift store, but if it is run by a charitable organization, you can feel good about paying a few bucks more because you are helping out the cause. Garage sales and thrift stores are great places to find books and DVDs. I love a bargain.
