Shop garage sales and thrift stores and estate sales. Christmas decorations, wrap, bows and ribbon all are continuous offerings at pretty much every garage sale, thrift store or estate sale I’ve ever shopped. Holiday tins are also bountiful at these sales. Shop the after Christmas sales.

For many, the end of the year holiday shopping frenzy can override our saner, more thrifty selves. What should you wait to buy until after the holidays? Obviously, anything with decorations related to the holidays will most likely be reduced in price right after Christmas. Most claimed that the holiday sales were of no-name TVs.

We do put up decorations (ones I buy at garage sales or thrift stores and reuse each year). Decorate for the next fall holiday with it. Once the kids left home, we ended up with zero trick or treaters at our house on a state highway. No kids = no money on candy = no candy wrappers in the landfill. Tip # 2 Recycle/reuse costumes.

I have found that garage sales , flea markets , estate sales or Mom/Grandma’s basement are the best places to score a great deal on used canning jars. The best place to find used canning accessories cheaply is eBay , although sometimes you can get lucky and spot some items at garage sales , too.

Be there at rush hour in the morning and evening, during weekend days and evenings and on holidays. Garage sales make a good excuse to get into the area without it seeming weird or awkward. Visit your county offices to find information about zoning regulations as well as where and when the zoning committee meets.
