Last summer, we planted a garden that included 3 cucumber plants. The cucumber plants took over the entire garden. This year, we decided to only plant one. One cucumber plant has spawned into this massive plant with over 30 cucumbers growing!
We also have an abundance of cherry tomatoes growing. They are so yummy!
Our green peppers and jalepeno peppers have been doing really well too!
How is your garden growing? We are very fortunate, we have had some major rain storms this summer. They have helped the garden flourish.
What are you growing?

This year my husband planted potatoes, onions, peas, lettuce, squash, zucchini, cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, corn, canteloupe, watermelon, cabbage. We had strawberries and raspberries already and are now picking our blackberries. It comes in handy since he’s a vegetarian. I freeze the peppers to put in chili during the winter and make tomatoe sauce and freeze that too. I wish I could find a canning class in my area to can some of the rest!

Tracey, acidic vegetables such as tomato’s are easy to can as are jams and jellies. Other veggies like green beans, corn, etc are usually canned using a pressure cooker as organisms are more likely to grow in non-acidic food. Try your local county extension office in your county, they may have classes or be able to recommend one. It is very rewarding (and practically free) to put up your own veggies and fruit.

Cucumber bugs are ruining everything! Any suggestions anyone? Will not use any type of pesticide,,,

I have 7 raised beds and I never seem to learn that when I plant in the spring that they will GROW. I planted 4 cucumber plants this season and they have gone nuts, but now they are dieing. Have you ever had that problem? I’m wondering why all of a sudden they are browning and dieing. Regardless, I think next year I am only going to plant one cucumber. I can only make so many jars of pickles :)
My garden also has tomatoes, peppers, brocolli rabe (new for me this year an has done really well) Potatoes (harvested them today), garlic (already harvested), onions (already harvested, peas, beans, carrots, lettuce, arugula. basil, oregano, rosemary, tea, yellow squash, zucchini, …hmmm, I think that’s it. I love to garden, I wish I could do it full time.

WOW! Janine I am impressed. Yep, me too with the cucumbers. It seems like they “strangled” each other and they all died off last year.

This is our first year gardening…our cucumers are taking over our garden too! We have zucchini that have been pretty good so far! :) Our green peppers didn’t come up, but we have 2 orange pepper plants. The peppers are still green and small, but I can’t wait for them to be ready to harvest! We have tons of tomatoes (cherry and Rutgers), but none are ready to be harvested…oh, and some eggplants. We tried to grow carrots & snowpeas, but they didn’t make it.
Our kids (3 1/2 and 22 mo) love checking out the new veggies! They are good eaters so I can’t wait to feed them the veggies from our garden! How fun!! :)
