Most telephones were on a party line (and yes the parties did ease drop on each other, but they also let us do ‘conference’ calls). Gasoline stations did not serve food, have coffee or provide bath rooms. There were no morning traffic reports (mainly because there weren’t traffic jams around us). Go Frugal'
