Another quick update, Amanda let me know that Walmart’s registers are not taking this coupon at all — and that they have been informed not to take the coupon by management. So I am suggesting just using this coupon on one of the many other deals available. Thanks, Amanda
So Carolyn let me know she had some issues at Walmart using the Tide Coupon on the trial sized. There might be a good explanation as to why the coupon is beeping:
The coupon does not have a size restriction and is valid on all Tide detergent that is distributed by Procter & Gamble. The single use packets are not distributed by P&G and therefore the store reserves the right to choose not to accept the coupon on that item. I hope this helps with any confusion.
We license the Tide name and actual product to another company (in this case Cotton Buds) to distribute one use packets of the product. It is actually Tide in the package but it is distributed by the other company. Since that product isn’t distributed by P&G the stores reserve the right to deny a manufacturer’s coupon on that product. I hope this helps.
Thoughts?

I also would prefer to use the $2.00 coupon on a better deal for a bigger Tide; however, using it on the travel/trial sizes is better than letting it expire. That way, I can use them for travel, daughter in college, gift basket or donate.

I was successful at using the $2.00/3 coupon that expires the end of this month for the travel/trial sizes at Target. I’m guessing this is a $2.00/1 coupon though.

And another reason why I shop at Target! No problems…if the coupon beeps they just override it because it does say Tide product.

My opinion—they are smart at P&G. They know we like to use coupons on trial sized items. They should have put restrictions on the coupon. I find it frustrating that they put that out there.

I don’t know why they didn’t just say “Not valid on trial/travel” Wouldn’t that solve this problem for them, they can’t be dumb enough not to know what we sometimes use this kind of coupon on!!! Personally, I am going to wait for a Dollar General $5/$25 and use them combined with this to get a good deal.

Are you kidding? There are so many restrictions to couponing anymore I can barely stand it. PG needs to honor the coupon end of story. I have no intention in even trying to use this coupon.
Debbie R. says
Wonder why this is suddenly an issue. Did P&G just start outsourcing this?
Rob says
never been an issue before. The copon says any TIDE product….NOT any P&G Tide product. Ridiculous and very typical Wal-Mart. I’d write a letter if you have a bad experience. Wal-Mart CS does will not blow you off and each store is most certainly not allowed to have their own unique coupon policy. You can find the Wal-mart coupon policy on their web site and it is in no way ambiguous.

I personally feel that if the single packets are a Tide product and the coupon states for any Tide product then the coupon should be honored.

I’m not interested in fighting for something that *may* be right… I will stand my guard if I am 100% sure that I am right as a consumer. I agree with Jenna… how are we, as consumers, supposed to know that Tide would be contracted out in single packets to another company? I never would have thought that P&G would do that since they are such a HUGE company. That being said, I might try to get the free + overage for the purpose of putting the overage towards something else, lowering my OOP expense. It’s rare that I buy Tide detergent anymore, because it is so expensive. I find that other detergents work just as well for our family. :)

I stocked up on single packs at Target – the coupons all went through with no problem – $0.50/1, $1/2 and $2/3. I think my average came to about $0.40/pk after my bag and red card discounts. I love these single packs when we travel – we ALWAYS have 1 or 2 loads to wash on trips, and I hate bringing a big box with us.

I want to know how the normal person is suposed to know this when it says tide and the single packets are tide. I dont really care because, my walmart doesn’t give overages they are one of the stores that claims to have their own store policy and its not worth fighting. I just feel like p & g might have made a mistake and now they have no way of fixing it. Or they found an interesting loophole that we may see again.
Carolyn says
hmmm. dislike? LOL I usually don’t shop at Walmart and/or have overage coupons except for the razor deal last month. so I wasn’t really sure. I’m a Wisk gal anyways, but this would have been a nice little deal if it worked, the little packs wld have come in handy for vacation. I will prob. try one more time and then pass the coupons on ;) LOL THANKS Shannon!!

Carolyn says
Aaaah! Gottcha. :( Bummer though. I am a Wisk gal, but this would have made a nice little overage. Now I know to pass the coupons on.
THANKS Shannon.

I like to get things free and get overage and such, but it doesn’t do me a lot of good (there’s 7 of us) to buy a bunch of free little laundry packets, or to pay $.50 for one tiny packet (like last months Q). I always save the coupons to use for a bigger item, or to use with +ups/ECBS, or to pass onto a friend who needs it. I have a few little packets for an emergency/travel, but other then that, I pass.
So my thoughts? Oh well. If it works, great, if not, oh well. I wasn’t planning on using them for overage, I will probably use them with the target coupon to get a bigger container, and pass it along to another family that needs it. We use homemade laundry soap.
