This sweet little candy dish was a gift from my grandmother. I realize not everyone has family heirlooms to give away, but my grandmother was downsizing and gifted her grandchildren pieces from her Fostoria Glass collection that were my grandparents’ wedding gifts back in 1945. My great-grandmother made a lot of her gifts.

They really don’t need or want anything and both of my grandmothers are trying to downsize. My aunt gifts her nieces and nephews with loaves of homemade cinnamon bread every Christmas. This sweet little candy dish was a gift from my grandmother. My great grandmother made a lot of her gifts. A Homemade Meal. Baked Goods.

I created a puzzle of my niece, Baby M. This is a great gift for everyone – ranging from a new parent to a child to your grandmother! They are super simple to create – you just choose the size puzzle you want and if you want cardboard or wood, upload your photo and wait a few days for it to arrive in the mail in a fun box!

I’ve seen the nieces and my own kids ask for and get babysitting services time after time from a busy working boomer. In my experience, my kids expect more of me for their kids than I expected of my parents for mine. It never occurred to me to ask Mom or Mom-in-law to come watch my kids.

But having nieces and now being a grandmother, I know mom’s become much less uptight about the whole thing the second time around. All four videos can be found on Luvs YouTube channel @ www.youtube.com/luvsdiapers. I just watched the 4 videos and had a good laugh. Having had only one child, I never got to the second time around.

I’m pretty sure I always sang it as Grandmother’s house, which is weird since we actually went to my Grandfather’s house for holidays. My nieces, my daughter and I sing all the songs, loudly , to the annoyance of my brother and son-in-law. Over the river, and through the wood, . to Grandfather’s house we go; .

My mother grew up on a farm, and from her accounts my grandmother and grandfather (who also was a foreman at the local glass factory, along with being an independent farmer) were frugal, and sometimes times were tight. My grandpa would shoot squirrels when they needed meat, and they had a big garden and my grandmother baked her own bread.
