9 Of My Favorite Things To Do On Halloween
If there is one thing I have learned from the pandemic, it is to make the most of holidays. Making Halloween memorable at home this year. Here are nine of my favorite things to do on Halloween.
Drink Pumpkin Spice Lattes – The perfect coffee drink for Halloween. Plus, the smell of pumpkin spice in my kitchen is the smell of Autumn for me my favorite season. This drink has all the rich, creamy spiciness that I love, and making it at home means saving money that I would have spent at Starbucks. Get the recipe for The Best Homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte HERE
You can also try Pumpkin Spice Dalgona Coffee or Pumpkin Chai Latte
Have a Fall Picnic – In the Year of Picnics, author Ashley talks about Falling Leaves Picnic. So, grab some scrumptious and easy food and go on a fall picnic. A salad, a favorite sandwich and muffins, and a thermos with a hot soup or beverage are all that you would need to enjoy the beauty of nature. Also, with Fall’s mild temp, the cheese will happily sit outside. So, you can also pack cheese, crackers, and fruit too. If you find some leaves to jump around in, all the merrier.
Eating Halloween Candy – Candy corn is perhaps one of the oldest Halloween candies still eaten today, dating back to the 1880s. Halloween candy will bring up nostalgic memories of your childhood. Eat your favorite candies mindfully. Avoid eating candies on an empty stomach. You can always have a little candy now and have a little tomorrow. Remember, there is no need to eat as much as possible now.
Watching Scary movies or Reading a scary book – Watching horror movies can actually help you reduce overall stress levels, by developing coping mechanisms to handle everyday anxieties. Did you know you can burn up to 200 calories while watching a scary film? Snuggle under the covers, dim the lights and watch the spookiest of movies or switch off the lights, light some candles, and read your favorite scary stories, no matter how many times you have read it, the story will still spook you.
Telling ghost stories around a cracking fire – To tell a good campfire ghost story, you will first need to build a simple story, with just the right amount of detail, until you have the audience right where you want them. That’s when you deliver the scare! Here is all you need to know about how to tell a good ghost story HERE. You can find ghost stories for kids HERE.
Roast S’mores – S’more is a contraction of the phrase “some more”. The first mention of this treat is in a 1927 edition of the Girl Scout manual Tramping and Trailing with the Girl Scouts. In a nod to the treat’s addictive qualities, it was dubbed “Some More.” The term s’more was first found in the 1938 guide “Recreational Programs for Summer Camps,” by William Henry Gibson. Making Smores in the Oven is the easiest way to make s’mores for a crowd and you can also enjoy them any time of the year too. Hot chocolate is better when it is loaded with marshmallows. Here is my favorite s’mores hot chocolate recipe.
Roasting Pumpkin Seeds – Pumpkin seeds are crunchy, tasty, and easy to make. Halloween isn’t the only time to roast them. You can roast them through winter. If you don’t want to roast the pumpkin seeds after you carved the pumpkin then rinse them to remove the pulp and refrigerate in an airtight container. Dress up the Dog – If you have a pet, then dress them up in super cute pet Halloween costumes! Find a costume that captures the personality of your pet. If your pet hates to wear Halloween costumes, then here are 8 easy ways to dress your dog for Halloween.
Wake up to a Halloween Breakfast – For a spooky start to your day, start your day with a Halloween-themed breakfast. With all the candy that would be eaten throughout the day, it is better to start the day with healthier options.
