10 Tips for Holiday Decorating
It is the season to decorate your home for the holidays. This is my favorite time of the year. It’s my whole family’s favorite time of the year. We love spending time decorating and prepping the house for the holidays. Check out these 10 Tips for Holiday Decorating and learn how to win a Walmart e-gift card in the #Parent2ParentContest.
Decorate your tables and shelves
When it comes to decorating your home for the holidays, you need to start with your tables and shelves. My favorite décor set for the table are these Better Homes and Gardens Ceramic Pillar Candle Holders . This candle holder set completes any holiday look. Candles are where it’s at when it comes to decorating for the holidays. Fun fact: these candles holders are classic and can be used in your home year round.
Get out the candles
I have a little secret when it comes to decorating my home for the holidays. I use flameless candles. I have a set that I love. These Mainstays Flameless LED Pillar Candles are fabulous in so many ways. They’re a must when decorating for the holidays. These candles are perfect in the sense that they are made of wax, glow, and flicker, but are safe around the kids. If you are a parent, you know how important safety is.
Add decorative pillows to the home
Okay, my next favorite thing to do when decorating our home for the holidays is adding throw pillows. I cannot believe how fun throw pillows can be when it comes to decorating. I have two favorites that I use around the holidays– This Better Homes and Gardens Peace and Joy, Inspirational Pillow and the Faux Fur Decorative Pillow. My kids love these pillows because they are soft and fluffy (who am I kidding, so do I). These pillows are a Walmart exclusive, which means you get the rich and cozy textures for under $13. Make sure you mix and match colors to get an even better holiday décor look.
Time to hang up the stockings
A favorite around here is hanging up the holiday stockings. Customized pieces are a thing around here. Having personalized stockings is a big deal. Plus, we like to give these out as gifts when the holidays approach.
Don’t forget to decorate the outside
Listen, you spent all that time decorating the inside of your house, you cannot forget the outside. Don’t spend hours decorating your house, use this Star Shower Laser Light, it will change things for you. Now only that, it’s so much safer, takes just a few minutes to set up, and you have thousands of lights without any hassle.
Decorating the Holiday Table
Don’t forget about decorating the dining table this holiday season. This is the place that your guests will spend all their time, make it a special and festive place for them.
You need an awesome serving bowl.
I am usually the host for the holidays. With that in mind, I needed an awesome serving bowl to display the beautiful holiday dishes I’m making. I’m loving this Better Homes and Gardens Heritage Serving Bowl. I love that this single piece brings the whole table together. This is also a Walmart exclusive.
Match the plates and the other dishware
I am a bit obsessive when it comes to decorating the table, which is why my dishware should be perfect. I have mixed and matched our set this year from Pioneer Woman. I’m loving this Pioneer Woman The Pioneer Woman Farmhouse Lace Dinner Plate Collection and and this set as well. Both go well together. Note the color pallet that I chose for my plates, aren’t they gorgeous? These plates are also microwavable and dishwasher safe.
Get the flatware ready
Your flatware says so much about you as a host, choose wisely. For our table scape décor, this year, I chose this set from Silver Simplicity. Simple, beautiful, and it comes in 53 pieces. You’ll need all that silverware with so many people coming to dinner this year. It even looks super expensive, but isn’t. Win-win for everyone.
Add your own spin to the décor
Most of you know that I am into vintage, which is why I chose this gorgeous Pewter Charger. It’s a Walmart exclusive from Better Homes and Gardens. The price is just right, it can serve as a family heirloom, and it brings a lot of sass to my table. Plus, you can use this piece at your table all year round, it won’t break, and it can be repurposed around the house this year as décor.
There you have it. Decorating your home and table will be easier than ever this year. Do you have any tips to add? I’d love to hear them.

We don’t really decorate for the holiday’s anymore. I guess as I’ve gotten older, it’s just not something my family does. However, I like some of these tips… they’re decorating for the holiday tips, but they’re not in-your-face, either. I should definitely look into getting some throw pillows for our living room furniture.

All of these are really great tips for decorating for the holidays. I love flameless candles for decor and they do come in handy during power outrages.
