How to get Mildew Smell out of Towels
It’s that time again when Spring cleaning will be sneaking up on us. And if you are like us, than your towels probably get a good workout throughout the year. We have found an awesome way to get your towels back in shape and get to get that unpleasant mildew smell out quickly.
Heres how:
1. Place your towels in the washing machine and fill with the hottest water possible. Add in 2 cups of white vinegar and let soak for at least 30 mins. Do not add any other products (detergent, softener etc.). Leave them just as they are.
2. Run a full cycle after towels have soaked in the vinegar. Leaving towels in the washer repeat step 1, but using baking soda instead of vinegar. Run a complete full cycle again.
3. Dry your towels on hottest setting possible until fully dry. Or dry half way and place in direct sunlight for the remaining drying time.
Your towels will be just like new! No more nasty mildewy smell. Before you try this awesome DIY, check your washer to see if any of the odor is in the washer itself. That’s no good! If so, run the washer with hot water and 2 cups of bleach (no laundry). This will clean out any smells that are already in the water and collects at the bottom of the washer in between cycles. YUCK!
