So I asked on Facebook for a topic to write about. From the sound of it, it seems like I need to start at Square #1. (If you have questions, please leave them in the comments).
Let’s discuss coupon matchups… Each blog does them differently, but this will help you understand how they are done here at FTM.
Let’s use this matchup as an example:
Buy (1) Nasacort Spray Allergy 0.57 fl oz $17.99 Sale
Use (1) $5.00 on ANY ONE (1) Nasacort Allergy 24HR 120 Spray or Larger Coupon
OR Use (1) $5/1 Nasacort Allergy 24HR, exp. 10/25/15 (RP 09/27/15) [120 spray]
Use (1) $5.00 on ANY ONE (1) Nasacort Allergy 24HR 120 Spray or Larger ShopRite eCoupon
Submit for $5.00 Mobisave rebate
Pay $2.99 after coupons & rebate
What does it mean when you say use or use $5/1 Nasacort Allergy 24HR, exp. 10/25/15 (RP 09/27/15) [120 spray]
This means in that in the coupon can be found in September 27th edition of Red Plum Coupon Insert (09/27 RP) which are found in the Sunday paper. It also means it expires 10/25/15.
Other abbreviations for coupon sources are:
SS= Smart Source insert found in newspapers
PG= Proctor & Gamble insert found in newspapers
IP- Internet Printable – a coupon that is printed on the internet via different sources
Bricks- A company who provides many of the internet printables
UL or GM – Unilever or General Mills Insert found in Newspapers
Can I used all the coupons listed on one item ?
No! The coupons are listed there for your reference. You can use any of the coupons listed, but not together. So you pick one of the coupons to use. The only exception is when the listing says STACK WITH or USE WITH. These means it is permissible to use 2 computers on one item.
What does it mean when you say $2.00 after coupon wyb 2?
This means that if you buy 2 items and use the listed coupon, they will be $2.00 each.
You have a coupon that say $1.00/2, do I have to buy 2 to use it?
Yes, you must buy two.
Why isn’t every item in the circular with a coupon listed in your matchups?
I try to matchup the best deals for that store. Some stores are higher priced than others and have different coupon policies. So remember, you are only seeing the best deals. If you want to buy something that I didn’t match up, it doesn’t mean there aren’t coupons available. You can always check the coupon database.
Why doesn’t the value of my coupon match what you have here?
Regional papers have different values for different coupons, so your coupon maybe for more or less. If you are a Philadelphia area reader, I use the values found in the Philadelphia Inquirer. Other local papers may be more or less than this value.
Why don’t I have the coupon you have listed as a match?
Just like regional amounts are different, so are the actual coupons that may come in your newspaper inserts. If you are in smaller markets, you may not get some of the better coupons.
How do I know how many newspapers to buy and can you tell me each week?
That is a really tough question! Each of us has our own individual taste, so sometimes there are coupons that may appeal to me and not so much to you. I suggest you visit for the coupon preview each week and make a decision based on that. However, remember you may not get all the coupons each week. I buy a copy of the newspaper and check it out first. I never use the coupon previews as a definite list, I use it as what I could be getting. Once I look through the paper, I make a decision on what to purchase.
