Website Spotlight - Treppie

Enterprising young girls don’t want to wait until adulthood to start their own businesses. That’s where Treppie comes in. Treppie is an online e-commerce storefront platform where talented girls, ages 9 up through teen years can list and sell their products in a safe, anonymous, and fully mentored environment. Think Etsy, but especially built and created to support the unique needs of younger female entrepreneurs. Treppie is a great way for moms to help their daughters launch an online business out of their handmade creations.

How selling creative products on Treppie is different

You don’t have to be 18 or older to sell on Treppie. Aside from nurturing the creativity and business ambition of young girls, the online storefront platform offers their child, teen and college-age creators business mentorship, protects their privacy and safety on the platform, includes parents in the process, and takes only nominal fees, so that every Treppie girl can see larger profits from their sales.

Who is a “Treppie?”

noun,  tre·ppie  [treh-pee] a young female entrepreneur leveraging the power of Treppie’s online storefront marketplace, to transform her handmade artisanal work into a thriving business. Taken from the middle part of the word En-trep-reneur.

According to Treppie founder and mom of two, Jennifer Andrews, “For our Treppies under eighteen, parents must sign a consent form and participate alongside their child. We put safety in selling first, and that is where our parents’ participation is instrumental.”

All Treppies meet with Jennifer or with an assigned Treppie mentor where each girl’s products, costs, profit margins, safety practices, quality of craftsmanship and shipping methods are discussed and planned out.

Additionally, Treppie offers marketing support to its storefront owners, helping them to showcase and promote their products effectively to ensure success.

Andrews shares, “Treppie’s mission is to empower and guide young female business owners,” however, she adds “the platform is open to anyone, regardless of gender identity, as long as they support our mission.”

Price points on Treppie range from $3.00 to $150, with the most popular price points landing within the $7.00 to $20.00 range. Categories include: home goods, jewelry, clothing, pets, party, arts and crafts, seasonal and more. Most items are customizable and can be personalized.

About Treppie Founder Jennifer Andrews

A Denver, Colorado mom of two teenage boys, Jennifer Andrews revels in being a “boy mom,” but found herself yearning to mentor the creativity and entrepreneurial spirit of young girls.

A speech pathologist by training, Jennifer will never forget the day she conducted a speech test on a 10 year old girl who gifted her with a handmade bag that showed meticulous craftsmanship, rich color patterns and attention to detail. After suggesting that her young student pursue selling the bags as a business, Jennifer began finding other talented girls looking for a place to sell their creations. Treppie was born and the word spread among girls and their parents. There are now Treppies all over the U.S. selling and shipping their handmade crafts on Treppie’s  growing platform.
