Is there a limit on how many times you can do this deal per transaction? And if you can do it more than once, then do the sets of $15 have to be totally separate? I just worked out a list that totals $30.47 (4 Morningstar, 3 Silk, 3 Rice Krispies), but there’s no way to split it into two sets that both total $15 or more. If I buy all of that in one transaction, anyone know if it will take off the $5 twice?
Andrea says
Hi Ruchama,
You can try doing it twice in a transaction. Many instant savings at Giant work for me if I do more than one per transaction. If it doesn’t, you’ll just have to split it up.
Ruchama says
My issue had been that it wouldn’t split up — that the total was over $30, but there wasn’t any way to split it into two transactions where both transactions were over $15 — any way of splitting it up ended up with one at $15.50 and the other at $14.97. But I just solved the problem, because I realized I misread the list, and now I’ve got it in a way that will group the right way.
Ruchama says
Well, it ended up being pointless anyway — they required $15 before coupons. They never have before, but they just installed a new checkout computer system, so I guess it calculates it differently.
Melissa says
That stinks! My store has the new system too and I had no probs with it being after q’s. Although my transaction total was still well over $15 so maybe that’s why.
Ruchama says
I wonder how strictly they’ll measure the $15. It’s annoying that the Silk is $2.99 rather than $3 — it makes it so that my first attempt at a list for this ended up at $14.98.
Andrea says
Hey Ruchama,
Usually they don’t do “close enough.” You typically have to meet or exceed the required total so you’ll need something to fill in those $.02.
Ruchama says
Thanks. That’s what I figured. I switched one of the cereals on my list from Rice Krispies to one of the $3 ones to make it $15.48.
