Recycling is great for the environment and we should all be doing it (in spite of my title), but reusing is even better. When you can reuse or re-purpose an item, you are not only saving it from the landfills, but you are also saving the expense and energy which would have been expended when you recycle. I have a grandmother who would never dream of buying containers to store leftovers or food for the freezer. She has always reused food containers, such as glass pickle jars or plastic cool-whip and sherbert containers, so I am not quite sure how or why I got started buying plastic food storage containers. It seemed a bit wasteful.

Such a cute way to reuse toilet paper rolls (or even paper towel rolls if you have longer cords). Definitely an inspirational way to reuse Tic Tac containers, I would never have thought of it! This is an way of organizing your condiments, PLUS you’re using leftover egg crates! Plus, it makes everything look so much neater!

Everything in that lunch bag can be washed and reused or at least an be dealt with in an environmentally-friendly manner. For example, most leftover food scraps can even be composted ( other than meat, of course ) so they can be brought home if a school or workplace doesn’t do composting. It’s quite simple, really.

Below is a list of things I (or hubby) have personally saved and reused. Plastic containers from sliced lunch meat are great for leftover vegetable or casserole servings. Shopping bags are reused as carry alls for gifts and travel needs. Decorated bags (such as those you put gifts in) are just reused for gift giving.

Gift bags and bows can be reused year after year. While they may eventually wear out, reusing them can at least reduce the impact. Reuse Whatever You Can. However, a lot of your disposable Christmas products can be repurposed and reused. If you wind up with too many leftovers, don’t worry!

This is a great way of reusing your old pots that are sitting around your yard. We always have so much leftover candy (especially jelly beans), that this is a great way to use them up, without rotting the kids’ teeth. . Another way to spiff up your place while using leftover candy! You can paint them or use colorful paper. .
