Five Frugal Things | A lunch-y edition

The Frugal Girl

I’m using metal containers to pack my lunches Reusable containers make for a greener lunch, and a cheaper lunch. But for lunches, I love metal containers. I found a metal tiffin-style container (kinda like this one) at Goodwill years ago, and it’s been super helpful for packing lunches.

Five Frugal Things | on a Monday!

The Frugal Girl

I found some red thread in my sewing box. And then I set up my sewing machine. So, I sewed a scrap piece of denim on the inside, using yellow thread to hide my stitching. Five Frugal Things | symphony for $10? Yes, please.

The Frugal Girl

See Kate Sew has a project she refers to as Sweatshirt Liposuction ! I think it is just removing the collar, cuffs, and bottom, slit up the middle then sew around the raw edges to keep from rolling. While I like the closure, it doesn’t get rid of the pulling it over your head problem. But there are a few pins of it out there.

Five Frugal Things | are croutons a garnish?

The Frugal Girl

Luckily, I had a little bit of white cotton yarn in my drawer, and I found a big needle in the sewing box I had grabbed from the abandoned house. So, I was able to sew it up, and while my fix is not beautiful, it IS functional, and that is what matters when it comes to dishcloths. I had to use my reading glasses to thread the needle.
