I went to walgreens today and got 4 of the advil decongestion. I got the 5.00 rr but then i realized that i only needed to get 3 to get the deal. The lady there said I couldnt return 1 of them because of the deal I got. I guess Im going to try another wags and see what they say- but i thought that was kind of weird. I would like to get the rebate mailed to me if possible. Thanks so much!

I went in today 8/29 to try this deal and it did print the $5 register rewards. I hope this helps.

I bought 3 of the 4oz robotussin, used $5 kraft rr and 3 $c1/1. No RR printed, but when the very patient clerk rang it with the $5 kraft RR, the $5 Advil etc RR printed. Weird. This is why I am a CVS girl!!!

I would NOT try this deal for a day or two. I just got back from doing this, and the dimetapp and robitussin are NOT PRINTING register rewards right now. Plus, I had to endure the manager treating me like I was some kind of idiot. “now let’s see what happens when we try a PARTICIPATING item.” (something in the picture in the ad).
He picked several different items that were marked and rang up four of each. Nothing produced a reward except from the Advil Allergy that is shown in the picture. I’m very angry at Walgreens right now and the way I was treated. I’m not sure that the manager meant to be so condescending… and rude…but he came off badly and sure made it sound like Walgreen’s was participating in false advertising.
I will be calling corporate tomorrow and check back with an answer. But, since I just had to watch a manager ring up half the cough and cold aisle while giving me lessons in RR that were completely and totally inaccurate, I’m guessing they’ve got one of those coding issues that happens occasionally.
But, if your store has the pictured boxes here (not the dimetapp ones in the ad, those don’t work), it will work for you.

I called Walgreens this morning. I’m waiting to have upper management give me a call back.
Tracy says
Sorry Heather that happened to you, I don’t shop at Walgreens anymore because of the condescending & rude treatment when I come in with a handful of coupons. Im very very nice to the clerk and always try to make sure Im not causing a “long wait” for other customers, but it must be a store policy to treat couponers horribly. Its happened several times at a few different locations. Oh well, Ill take my money to some other business, no big deal. I don’t let it ruin my savings….ever!!! Best Wishes

This type of behavior is nothing new at Walgreens. Some managers don’t like couponers because it is more work for them and their employees. Another thing is that some couponers can be a huge pain to managers, they take the manager’s time by complaining about the lack of stock, etc. One manager told me that she has to go to Walgreens stores in other towns with less customer traffic to get some of the items with RR because she can’t deal with whiny couponers. Some couponers don’t understand the basic fact that no store has unlimited stock, if an item is free with RR, that item will be out of stock. Most stores don’t have the space to store hundreds of 5-6 items, it is just not feasible.
In my small town, I’m the coupon lady, the stores don’t give me a hard time anymore because I have proven them wrong 100% of the time and I called their corporate office after every incident of rude behavior.
Last week at CVS, one employee was flirting with another employee who was not working but came to see her. I do separate transactions so I can have a better control of what I’m doing. After a couple of transactions, this young lady mumbled to her love interest that “I’m really getting tired of this.” and walked away to the back of the store to talk to the young man and discourage me from doing more transactions. I walked to the back of the store wheren she again was engaged in heavy flirting and ask her for the manager. Right in front of here, I told him about the rude behavior and the lack of professional behavior exhibited by these two employees. If the young lady didn’t want to do her job, she really shouldn’t be working. I know how it was to be young and hot for a guy but there is a time and place for everything.

Thanks for your well wishes, everybody!
Upper management called back, and he was very nice. Stuttered a bit after I said false advertising and is going to go ahead and go up the line and see what’s going on with that promotion.

I tried this deal at my Walgreens :
1 Advil 10 ct Allergy & Congestion $5 -$2coupon
1 Advil 10 ct Congestion $5 -$2 coupon
1 Dimetapp $5 – $2 coupon
OOP = $9
No $5RR printed out.
The manager told me that I was mot entitled to a $5RR because I used 3X$2 manufacturer coupons for Advil and Dimetapp and therefore did notr actually spend $15 as required by the Walgreens ad.
Is he correct? If not, why? Thank you.
Heather says
No, he’s not correct. The dimetapp isn’t printing rewards right now. I’m going to call corporate in the morning, but even when the manager rang up four of them without any coupons, the rr didn’t print.
Joe says
Thank you, Heather.

CVS has the 40 count for $4.49 x 3 -$4 CVS Bucks-3 $1.00 off coupons and the $10 rebate, about a $4 moneymaker.
Jen says
I think you meant 10 ct. At least that is what was at my local store.
