11 Ways How To Make Your Guest Room Comfier
Making sure my guest room is ready for visitors is a habit I’m always glad I picked up from my sister. Staying a night in my sister’s guest room always made me feel like I’m in a dreamy hotel room. If you can get into the habit of a standard cleaning schedule after the guests depart, then your guest room will always be visitor-ready.
Here are 10 of my favorite tips I picked up from my sister that is sure to make your guests feel special and pampered.
Bedding – Add a mattress protector to the bed, the best thread count for soft sheets is typically 300 TC to 350 TC. A high thread count is not always a good thing, what it means is that the sheets are denser, so they end up reducing moisture absorption and air circulation. Always have two sets of sheets just for the guest room. Don’t keep too many decorative throw pillows, if there is one task I find most annoying it is having to remove the throw pillows at night and then returning them to the bed in the morning. Tip: Have just one throw pillow on the bed with a “sleep well” message.
Bathroom Supplies – Have a considerable selection of toiletries and bathroom supplies. Stock up on toothbrushes, fragrant soaps and body washes, shampoo, conditioner, fluffy white clean towels, toilet paper, and hand wash. Tip: Keep a scented candle and fresh flowers in the room.
Set up a Coffee or Tea Station – On a console table, keep an inexpensive electric jug, a bottle of mineral water, coffee cups, teaspoons, creamer, and a nice mix of teas and coffees. This was most helpful when my niece stayed over as she preferred to brew a cup for herself in the room rather than walk around the kitchen at night.
WIFI Information: Keep the WIFI password and login in a personalized note on the table. So that they can connect without asking.
Charges and Extension cords: If your light switches are near hard-to-reach places, then do have an extension cord with a universal charger on hand.
A Place To Sit – Place an upholstered armchair or a side chair with a comfy cushion and a throw. A good reading light on the desk would be great.
Room For a Suitcase – Have a small table or bench to set down a suitcase.
Closet – If your room can accommodate a wardrobe that would be ideal otherwise a small chest of drawers would do too. Have atleast six hangers in the closet. Simple over the door hook to hold a robe, coat or a purse.
Mirror Mirror On The Wall – A full-length mirror is always useful, if that is not possible a wall-length mirror at eye-level works too.
Bathroom Makeover – Try your best to keep the towels and bed covers the same color. Have the shampoos, conditioner, and hand washes in transparent dispenser bottles. Tip: Keep a hairdryer in the bathroom.
Finishing Touch – Add colorful artwork or a framed picture on the walls. A lighted clock
These small touches will ensure your guests know you have gone out of your way to give them an enjoyable stay.
