Time Tidbits: Time Blocking

I had a chance to interview the President of Cyberbacker, Shiela Mie Legaspi, on the benefits of effectively time blocking your day to help with your career and parenting.

What is time blocking?

Time blocking is an efficient use of your calendar where you set a designated time for each task. It’s the most productive way of ensuring that what has to be done, gets done. Time blocking lets you focus on activities that matter most in hitting your goals.

How does it help working parents manage time?

You can ensure you won't miss any important occasions with your family, especially for the kids. If they have activities, and if it's not on your calendar, you might miss it. Putting ALL responsibilities, work and personal, on your calendar will help you make better use of your time. Working parents have a lot of responsibilities to manage, which can be overwhelming. This breaks your day down into smaller segments, and parents can identify where they have overlaps and gaps ahead of time.

Besides time management, what are the other benefits of time blocking?

There are many benefits to time blocking! Mental health-related benefits immediately come to mind, because you can look at your day and know exactly what you need to do and know that you have the time allotted to get those things done. So while it is a great time management tool, time blocking is a huge stress reliever and confidence booster.
