Recycling is great for the environment and we should all be doing it (in spite of my title), but reusing is even better. When you can reuse or re-purpose an item, you are not only saving it from the landfills, but you are also saving the expense and energy which would have been expended when you recycle. Popsicle sticks.

Have a look for antiques and collectables to give as gifts – there’s less impact on the environment because they’re not new, and you can find some really interesting and original presents. Some Christmas presents fill a practical need, and need to be bought new. Just Buy Less! creased sections of paper for next year.

Here are some ways we recycled our moving waste: Creative Ways to Use the Excess Supply. I’ll let the kids’ color or draw on it, and we’ll wrap presents in it. Building a fort out of the boxes is another way to recycle and keep the kids entertained. Wrapping paper. Cardboard boxes. Sell the excess.

There are a number items now that are created from recycled materials, as well as other eco-friendly materials. We found a toy car made from recycled materials for my young nephew, and I once received a journal made with recycled paper. It’s possible to find wrapping paper and gift cards produced from recycled materials.

Recycle your wrapping paper. If not, make a point to save that paper this year, so that you can recycle it next December. Make your own presents. You saved all your wrapping paper from last year, right? It is up there in the attic next to the Halloween decorations and your summer clothes?

Most paints are high in volatile organic compounds (VOC’s) which are emitted as gases and present some risk of respiratory problems like asthma. Unfortunately it presented some major health problems and with mesothelioma life expectancy being very short, the material was banned so that risk of diseases was lowered.
