First of all, if you don’t have a sewing machine, you may want to invest in one. Although you can sew clothing by hand, it can be very time consuming and tedious. If you’re on a limited budget and a new sewing machine is out of the question, look for a used one. Use Recycled Fabrics.

My son was delighted with the used sewing machine my mother bought for him. There are a number items now that are created from recycled materials, as well as other eco-friendly materials. We found a toy car made from recycled materials for my young nephew, and I once received a journal made with recycled paper.

If you have talent with a sewing machine, you can even make them look nice. Instead of using paper towels for every spill, you can invest in some washable dish towels. Because they can be washed and reused they are much cheaper in the long run. You can even make your own dish towels out of old bath towels.
