Sales Tax Holiday: 7 reasons you may not need to shop this weekend

Each year as

approaches folks ask me if I plan to shop this weekend. Every year I always say maybe but probably not.

I personally hate to shop in crowds, it annoys me to no end and nothing on my list is worth putting up with crowded stores and parking lots.  I've got better things to do.

Now don't get me wrong -- if you've been saving up to shop this weekend and this weekend meets your need go for it.  Take your coupons, your ads, your lists and hit the store.

However if you're like me check out these seven reasons why you may not need to participate:

1.  You don't need clothing --

You've capitalized on clothing sales throughout the summer and you won't buy jeans and such until later in the year.

2. Reuse old school supplies --

School supplies are being repurposed and you have picked up a number of items over the summer or clearance sales from last year.

3. No coupons --

You do not have coupons to match the items you want and they are currently not a need.

4.  You're only saving 8 to 10 percent on any of the lower priced items.

That's not a savings worth fighting the crowds.  (HOWEVER if you're buying a tablet or computer then this is the weekend to buy.)

5.  You feel pressure to shop because you think you're saving a ton of money --

Please don't think like that.  In fact don't succumb to the pressure that you must shop this weekend.  If the stores you plan to hit are having better than normal sales then go, but don't spend money this weekend just to participate in the hype.

6.  You don't have kids --

Now is the perfect time to hit spots normally packed with families.

7.  You're sick of spending money --

Yep, that's a reason.  Times are tough and school stuff is expensive.  You know you can see how long you can go without purchasing all of the items on the supply list and wait for clearance sales.

Don't throw your savvy and frugal sense out the window for a faux holiday.
