Tennessee Aquarium February events and ways to save

Here are some February events and ways to save during the month at the Tennessee Aquarium:

Chattanooga Chuck, the Aquarium's weather predicting marmot, will make his annual Groundhog Day forecast in Ranger Rick's Backyard Safari at Noon and 3:30 pm on Saturday, February 2.

Brief description of event/activities: The "Small Fry February" programs offer you some fun and interesting indoor things to do with your little ones during one of the coldest months of the year. Join a Tennessee Aquarium educator each Tuesday and Wednesday for Small Fry February! Drop in between 10:15 and 11:15 to participate in exciting activities designed to appeal to our youngest visitors (and their parents). On these special days, we will visit galleries, meet live animals, play games, listen to stories, make simple crafts, and enjoy a dive show designed especially to appeal to our "small fry."

February 5 & 6 - Oceans – Take a close up look at amazing salt water critters, talk with divers as we swim through the ocean discovering the incredible life under the sea and visit with the graceful inhabitants of Stingray Bay.

February 12 and 13 – Turtles – Explore the world of turtles and discover what they eat, how they protect themselves and the purpose of that incredible shell. Play fun games and meet some really cool critters during this program.

February 19 and 20 – Penguins – These amazing birds live in some of the coldest parts of the world and use interesting adaptations to help them survive. We'll investigate many things such as feathers, blubber and nesting as we dive into the world of penguins.

February 26 and 27 – Working Animals – People may go to school to learn to do their jobs. Some of the stars of Ranger Rick's Backyard Safari have their own type of school  to learn the behaviors they demonstrate. Meet some of the critters and see how we "teach"  our animals in this fun session focused on training.

*Tuesday activities will be repeated on Wednesday so come one or both days for lots of fun!

Brief description of event/activities: This Valentine's night, allow us to entertain you and your friends for a night of UNCENSORED information. We know you've wanted to ask a question while touring the Aquarium but felt a little awkward around the kids.... How on earth does that sea star make babies? How exactly does a sperm whale get its name? We're even willing to bet you've seen animals mating and wanted to look for a little longer than appropriate, right? Well, fret no more and push the embarrassment aside! Now will be the time to ask all those taboo questions over after-dinner snacks and cocktails.

Evening festivities will include a wacky costume photo booth, presentations by aquarium educators, and a live DJ. Our UNCENSORED event is a new social experience to be held in the River Journey lobby and Seahorse Gallery. Admission price includes a ticket to return for a tour at your leisure. The evening will close out with a chance to win ridiculously silly prizes during our version of "pub trivia." Don't miss out on this alternative Valentine's Day extravaganza!
