4 Best Dusting Tools
Dusting is something that I need to do daily because dust is one of the biggest triggers for my allergies. So, I dust the electronics, furniture in high traffic areas daily and in the less traffic areas weekly.
Keeping the home dust-free is hard, but having the right kind of tool, definitely helps to improve the cleaning routine.
Here are some of the best dusting tips:
- Always begin your dusting routine from top to bottom
- Use a damp clean microfiber cloth to wipe down surfaces.
- Make sure you shake the duster outside and switch sides when one side gets too dusty.
- Get indoor plants – Indoor plants act as natural air purifiers, improving the quality of air and adding moisture to the air which helps to keep dust levels down
- Buy a quality doormat – Two-thirds of the dust comes from outside, so invest in a good quality doormat.
Here are some of the best dusting tools:
Lambswool Duster – Use it for general dusting and sweep large surfaces. The natural lanolin oils in this type of duster combine with static electricity to attract and hold dust. Look for dusters with attachable, extendable handles for reaching ceilings and other high spots. Wash the duster using lukewarm water and mild soap or shampoo. Allow to dry at room temperature and comb gently.
Microfiber Cloth – Microfiber cloth is my favorite cleaning tool. Effective and reusable, Microfiber is able to pick up dirt, dust, even bacteria and can be used wet or dry. It can absorb seven times its weight in liquid. I prefer to hand wash and air dry the microfiber cloth. Extend their life by taking care of them properly so that you can save money over the long term.
Paintbrush – Use a soft clean natural bristle paintbrush for fragile items or for reaching into tight spaces. Sable brushes are best for paintings.
Compressed Air – Use canned air to clean blinds, curtains, valances, glass-fronted shelves, inside drawers, computer keyboards, piano keys, and for objects that can’t tolerate moisture.
Keeping the home dust-free is not an easy task, but if done properly then you get a home that is both clean and healthy.
