Seals’ grandfather was a Kentucky sharecropper and coal miner and his grandma worked on the farm. His dad drove a coal mining truck and worked as a crane operator for GM until he retired. A self-titled CD followed in 1998. In 2002 Seals formed Hot Apple Pie (DreamWorks). His mother cleaned houses for a living.
