Since the fall of 2005, I have primarily been a stay at home mother to our two daughters. At 8:15 this morning, my youngest daughter climbed on the bus for her first day of first grade. It’s been a long time coming. My husband and I agreed early in our marriage that our goal was for me to stay at home with our children.

Our daughter was born at 6 pm on a fall day in 2005. This photo was taken the morning after the home birth of our oldest daughter. Yes, you read that right–a home birth, but that story is for another time. This photo was taken around 9 AM the next morning after my first of many sleepless nights.

As news broke about Scotts pleading guilty to charges that it had sold over 70 million units of tainted bird seed between 2005 and 2008, the social media storm was no longer just about a bad partnership. And for that we can be thankful. Then the straw showed up to break the camel’s back.

This was right after they got married in 2005. Comments Thanks Maralea, My daughter is doing a little better but she is. My poor, sad daughter lost her first furry baby this weekend; her beloved Beebert. Her husband rescued him from a parking lot where the cat was wandering around tired, wet, dirty and covered in flees.
