Finally Frugal

I was questioning whether, with the sad state of the real estate market, throwing money at my second mortgage was really the intelligent thing to do, since I don't know whether I'll ever get that money back (I'm thinking not). It seems that those of us in the trenches (like my commenter) may have more insight than the experts!

In hindsight, we all would have sold out of the market at the end of 2006! It may or may not turn out that way. In hindsight, it would have been much better if my husband had gone ahead back in 2011 and bought those bonds we still need to get into our allocation. Hindsight is easy, but foresight is not.

We purchased a vacation condo in a local resort area in 2006 (yep, right before the crash). I also wanted a bit more diversification in our portfolio and figured an additional piece of real estate could help that. Rental management companies may not distribute rental days evenly. This really took a bite out of our income.
