Ignoring government attempts to regulate our kids into better test scores, many parents are having the public vs private school debate. As a parent, you want to try to give your child every advantage you can. But, this doesn’t include the cost of tutors for those advanced subjects the parent can’t teach.

Aside from a couple of brief forays into non-bank type accounts in the eighties and one family investment club, my investing experience dates to the early 1990’s. I set it up so that I had a certain dollar amount moved from my bank (where my check was automatically deposited) to my Vanguard account. The market goes up and down.

If you want to read up on that stuff, plenty of it was written in 2008 and 2009. I will go to the bank and stockpile some cash. Be available to provide counsel to our adult children and their spouses (if they are interested) to compare the situation to others we and our parents lived through. Here are a few links.
