We lived for 2.5 I transported my kids everywhere either by walking, biking, or taking the bus. We had to sell it less than 3 years after buying it, and between that and the market timing (bought in 2009, sold in 2012), we were lucky to come out of the whole situation with our original mortgage paid off completely by the sale!
