In previous years, I would create a long list of financial goals, only to have little accomplished by the end of the December. I almost stopped writing goals down altogether. In 2018, we decided to focus on just 2 main financial goals and before I share my 2019 goals I thought I would give you a recap on 2018.

Being self-employed, we need to have a cushion for business expenses in the event that something happens, such as a tough sales month or our furnace/AC breaks. It happened in 2006 and again in late 2012 to early 2013. What financial goals are you working towards? Are you making headway with those goals?

Was there a particular event? The main event that catapulted me into wanting to be debt free, was the lowest point in my life to-date. He leaves most of the financial goals up to me, but we make the decisions together. I became debt-free on May 29, 2012 and the first thing I did was quit my job as a seasonal tax pro.

As I planned my goals for 2012, I realized that I made only one goal for myself in 2011. I found over the years that if I didn't have an event to work towards, I could easily talk myself out of exercise. I learned so much that I hope to apply these lessons to my personal and financial goals for 2012.
