I loved being home with my birth family as a kid, going to elementary and high school, finding new found freedom at college in my teens and early twenties, striking out on my own in my twenties, having and raising my babies in my twenties and thirties. I lost my stay at home baby weight and emerged a slim confident young career woman.

Being the smart person you are, you you sign up for a 401K with company matching and do the right thing by starting to pump as much into it as possible. In 5 years – you’ve married and had a baby, but your 401k still goes to Mom and Dad when you die. You make your estate your beneficiary. What can go wrong after you die.

In October 2003, I left a career as a department store buyer with a nice paycheck, paid vacation days, 401k match, profit sharing, and health benefits, to pursue a life of self employment with my husband where all of those things are up to us.
