Donate good clothing you really can’t use to a non-profit and bank the tax deduction. Use the life out of all your appliances, but save up enough money to replace them quickly if they are nearing the end of their lifespan. If you can’t afford a car, use public transportation. Use up your food.

Concentrated products often require less packaging, resulting in less energy to transport it to the store and less plastic to recycle. When you are on the lookout for new appliances and as you need to replace what you have, make sure to invest in energy saving brands that have decent warranties. Use concentrated household products.

Participate in local food drives and donations and involve your kids in your actions. You can make it fun for you kids by running a household scavenger hunt in which you reward you children for finding household items to donate, such as clothes, toys, books, old appliances, and canned goods.
