I’ve seen the nieces and my own kids ask for and get babysitting services time after time from a busy working boomer. In my experience, my kids expect more of me for their kids than I expected of my parents for mine. It never occurred to me to ask Mom or Mom-in-law to come watch my kids.

After our second son was born, we were renting a house that the owner was also hoping to sell, and they were showing it, and I was stressed out and worried about moving with a baby…and we bought the house.
